The United States, it being a republic with democratic elements, is the odd one out in a club of executioners in which we find such countries as Saudi Arabia, China, North Korea and Iran, for its only common link with these dictatorships is its criminal justice system where capital punishment has yet to be abolished throughout retentionist states. |
